Privacy Policy

Denizin Yemekleri is a website that publishes home cooking recipes. This page explains what data is collected when you visit the site, what it is used for and what your rights are. We have tried to keep it plain; if anything is unclear, write to us and we will explain.

What data we collect

The comment and rating form

When you leave a comment under a recipe or give it a rating, the following are recorded:

  • Your name - published next to the comment. You do not have to use your real name.
  • Your email address - not published. Kept only for managing comments and for replying to you if needed.
  • Your comment and the rating you gave - your comment appears on the recipe page once approved. Ratings are added to the recipe average.
  • Your IP address - recorded to block spam and automated submissions. A second comment cannot be sent from the same IP address within one minute. The IP address is never published anywhere.

Comments are read before they are published. Data from comments we do not publish also stays in the database until it is deleted.

Collected automatically

For everyone who visits the site, the following data is created even if you type nothing:

  • IP address (in the server logs)
  • Browser and operating system, screen size, device type
  • Which pages you viewed, how long you stayed, which address you arrived from

Cookies

The site uses cookies. We have written out which cookie is for what, how long it stays and how to refuse it on a separate page: Cookie Policy.

The recipe book

There is a book on the site where you can save recipes you like. This list is stored only in your own browser and is never sent to us. No membership is needed, you are not opening an account, and we cannot see which recipes you have saved.

The practical consequence: if you clear your browser data or visit from another device, your book will look empty. That is not a fault, it is how the book works.

Advertising

Advertising is shown on this site through Google AdSense. The ad slots are there to cover the running costs of the site.

  • Third party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to this website or other websites.
  • Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to users based on their visit to this site and other sites on the internet.
  • Users may opt out of personalised advertising through Google Ads Settings.
  • To opt out of personalised advertising from third party vendors collectively, you can use www.aboutads.info/choices.

Opting out of personalised advertising does not mean the ads disappear; they continue to be shown, but not chosen according to your interests.

The site also runs Google's Funding Choices cookie consent message for visitors in the European Union and the United Kingdom. The permissions you give or refuse through that message are recorded.

Analytics

The site uses Google Analytics (GA4), to see which recipes are being read, where visitors arrive from and which pages are giving people trouble. The aim is not to follow individuals but to see the totals.

For this, Google Analytics writes a cookie to your browser and sends the data to Google. Google processes that data under its own privacy policy. Google Analytics measurement data is kept by Google for a retention period of at most 14 months.

To turn Google Analytics off across all sites, you can install Google's official opt-out add-on.

Who we share data with

We do not sell your personal data. It reaches only the service providers the site needs in order to work:

  • Google LLC - for advertising (AdSense), analytics (Analytics) and the cookie consent message (Funding Choices). This data is processed on servers abroad.
  • Our hosting provider - the site files and the database sit on their servers, and the server logs are created there.

Where a legal obligation arises (such as a court order), data may be shared with the competent authorities.

How long we keep data

  • Comments and ratings: until you ask for them to be deleted. Comments are part of the content of the site, so they are not deleted automatically.
  • The email address on the comment form: for the same period as the comment.
  • IP addresses in the server logs: for the period set by the hosting provider, usually a few months.
  • Analytics data: at most 14 months (on Google's side).
  • Cookies: the lifetime of each one is written on the Cookie Policy page.

Your rights

Your rights regarding your personal data are listed in article 11 of Turkish Law no. 6698 on the Protection of Personal Data (KVKK): to learn whether your data is being processed, to ask for it to be corrected or deleted, and others. The full list and how to apply is on the Data Protection Notice page.

The most practical route: if you want your comment deleted, send us an email from the address you used and say which comment it is. We will delete it and let you know.

Children's privacy

The site is not aimed at children and data is not knowingly collected from users under 13. If you believe your child has left data through the site, write to us and we will delete it.

If this page changes

If the services used on the site change, we will update this page and change the date at the top. If a change is significant, we will say so at the head of the page as well.
