The layering matters in a mixed toastie: wet fillings like tomato should not touch the bread directly. The cheese keeps them apart. Cheese underneath, everything else in the middle, cheese on top, and that order stops the toastie going soggy.
Ingredients
For the toast
Method
-
Brown the sucuk
Cook the sucuk slices in a dry pan for 5 minutes and lift them onto kitchen paper.
-
Prepare the wet fillings
Take the seeds out of the tomato and drain the pickles.
-
Butter the bread
Butter the outside faces of the bread.
-
Build the layers
Put kaşar on the bottom, then the sucuk, salami, tomato and pickle, and more kaşar on top.
-
Add oregano
Scatter oregano between the layers.
-
Cook
Cook in the toastie maker for 7 minutes, until the cheese has melted completely.
Tips
- Keep the wet fillings between the layers of cheese, not against the bread.
- Always take out the tomato seeds and drain the pickles.
- Do not overfill it; an overfilled toastie bursts in the machine.
