A toastie maker is done in six minutes, and sucuk does not cook in that time. It has to be browned in a pan first and then put in the toastie. Browned sucuk also keeps its fat from running out and soaking the bread.
Ingredients
For the toast
Method
-
Brown the sucuk
Cook the sucuk slices in a dry pan for 5 minutes, until the edges curl.
-
Drain the fat
Lift them onto kitchen paper and let the excess fat drain away.
-
Butter the bread
Butter the outside faces of the bread.
-
Fill it
Layer kaşar, sucuk, kaşar in that order. The cheese wrapping the sucuk keeps the fat in.
-
Cook
Cook in the toastie maker for 6 minutes, until the cheese melts.
Tips
- Brown the sucuk first; it will not cook inside a toastie in six minutes.
- Put the sucuk between two layers of cheese so the fat stays put and the bread does not go soggy.
- Do not throw away the fat from the pan, as you can use it for eggs.
