Tahini with grape molasses is nothing but a ratio. Mixing them half and half gives a balanced result: more tahini and it is heavy and dry, more molasses and it is far too sweet. Serving them unmixed is an option too, and then the ratio changes with every spoonful.

Method

  1. Stir the tahini

Stir the tahini in its jar, working the oil that has gathered on top back into it.

  2. Onto the plate

Spread the tahini over a serving plate.

  3. Add the molasses

Pour the grape molasses over it.

  4. Mix

Stir it together with a fork, or leave it unmixed and let everyone make their own ratio.

  5. Garnish

Scatter with walnuts and sesame seeds.

Tips

  • Stir the tahini well in the jar; separated tahini throws the measurements off.
  • Half and half is the most balanced; more molasses makes the plate far too sweet.
  • Grape molasses suits it best; mulberry molasses is sweeter and carob molasses heavier.
